We each write
our question
on a wrinkled
piece of paper
Gather them up
Clasp hands around
the piles in prayer
and bury them deep
in the unforgiving
ground

    The teacher asked, “Who? “
    The student said, “You.”
    The teacher asked, “What?”
    The student said, “nut.”
    The teacher asked, “When?”
    The student said, “Then.”
    The teacher asked, “Where?”
    The student said, “there.”
    The teacher asked, “why?”
    The student said, “pie.”
    The teacher asked, “how?”
    The student said,” chow.”
    The teacher asked, “now, put it all together, and you get…”
    The student replied,” twenty dollars for doing this.”
