Debbie Ridpath Ohi is a published writer and illustrator whose poetry has been published in print and online publications including Ideals Magazine, Snakeskin, PKA’s The Advocate and other publications. She was the creator and curator of the Poetry FAQ website for young people for nearly two years. Debbie is an Associate Member of the League Of Canadian Poets.
Debbie likes all kinds of poetry (yes, even RHYMING POETRY). She used to think poetry could only be enjoyed by poetry snobs until her friend Rand proved her wrong by pointing her to poems that she could actually understand. Some made her laugh. Some made her cry. All of them made her more aware of language and subsequently helped her strive to become a better writer.
Debbie writes and illustrates children's books for a living. Her solo picture books include Where Are My Books? and Sam & Eva (Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers). Her illustrations appear in books by Judy Blume, Michael Ian Black, Linda Sue Park, and others. She is currently working on a middle grade novel as well as a new picture book project.
Debbie is represented by Ginger Knowlton at Curtis Brown Ltd.
