About Debbie

Debbie Ridpath Ohi is a published writer and illustrator whose poetry has been published in print and online publications including Ideals Magazine, Snakeskin, and PKA’s The Advocate. She was the creator and curator of the Poetry FAQ website for young people for nearly two years.

Debbie likes all kinds of poetry (yes, even RHYMING POETRY). She used to think poetry could only be enjoyed by poetry snobs until her friend Rand proved her wrong by pointing her to poems that she could actually understand. Some made her laugh. Some made her cry. All of them made her more aware of language and subsequently helped her strive to become a better writer.

Debbie is the author of The Writer's Online Marketplace (Writer's Digest Books) and is the daily publishing industry news columnist for Writersmarket.com. She is currently illustrating a picture book called I'm Bored, written by actor/writer Michael Ian Black (Simon & Schuster, 2012). Her YA novel-in-progress was nominated for the Sue Alexander Award in 2011.

She has several online webcomics, including Will Write For Chocolate (in which one of the main characters is a poet!). Her Inkygirl blog features much writerly goodness.

Debbie is represented by Ginger Knowlton at Curtis Brown Ltd.
