Mountain - by Rand

Decisions, Decisions
I've never climbed a mountain
Not a big deal, really
It's not like it's one of my
unfulfilled dreams or anything

And no, I'm not making a list
I'm just stating the fact
The plain truth remains
I've never climbed a mountain

I figure, let the mountain be
It's no less impressive
with me on solid ground
In fact, you might argue
that I'm doing good work
standing here with you
admiring it from afar

When people ask why I don't
climb mountains I can reply
with dignity, "Because I'm here"

  1. When did I become a mountaineer?
Keep up, reach for the peak.
    Focus and keep climbing
I'd rather stay here for a while and watch the clouds.

    Who's giving the orders here?
Don't stop. Got to press on.
    Would anyone even notice
If I waited here for a while, and watched the clouds?

  4. It's daunting,
    Is it not?
That what started out so small
    Has gotten so huge?
    That's what happens
When you push it all aside--
    Your troubles just pile up
    And tower above you
    Where too loud a sound
Will bring it all down on you.

  5. I used to feel
    I could conquer mountains
    And now
    That anthill is too big.
    Gotta watch out
    For those fire-ants--
    Caution
    For their bites burn.

    ......cleaned out my closet

  7. Should I?
    What if something happens?
    What if nothing happens?
    Lost!
    A moment gone
Acerbic judgement brings the gavel down
    Drown the spark
    Live in your head
    Excitement comes from outside
    Yet.
A world exists within that hesitation
You can only live forward into time
A line with the arrowhead on only one end
    To that end
    He who hesitates
    Creates a world
