    I used to say "I can't"
    When it came to life and love
    To trust and devotion.
    And now as I say the words
    I know somewhere deep inside
    That I really mean
    "I don't."
    I don't want to love,
    I'm fearful of trust
    Cuz last time I tried
    It ground me down
    Nearly to dust.
